Exploring the City’s Art collection

This new exhibition explores the City’s Art collection from its beginnings in 1887 to the present day. It explores collections management, the loans programme and exhibition making and puts a spotlight onto how the collection is used, developed, conserved and cared for.

Some display highlights include a focus on an early acquisition to the collection as it undergoes conservation. As a centre piece to the exhibition it will show for the first time recently acquired contemporary prints by West Midlands based artist Dr Bharti Parmar. Using the collection and particularly the Bilston enamels as inspiration, Parmar has produced a series of Cyanotype prints that explore sentiments, symbolism of mementos and the intricacies of pattern & design.
