More Information (WCR FM is not responsible for external websites)
Our next talk is from Andy Bassett, all about his metal detecting exploits in Shropshire and in particular his find known as the Chelmarsh hoard which consisted of king Henry 3rd silver pennies which will be the highlight of the talk.
The coins date from between 1246 and 1255 and would have been deposited in the ground around 1256. It is believed to be a military paymaster or merchants hoard of coinage.
Andy has discovered around 163 pieces so far and a further hoard of Henry 3rd coinage in another part of the field.
