About the tour

In celebration of International Women’s Day, this new tour explores how women proved their mettle during the Second World War.

From the days of the Royal Flying Corps to the early formation of the Royal Air Force in 1918, women were keen to play their part. On this tour, you will hear the stories of pioneering women who supported and shaped the war effort — building aircraft, monitoring radar systems and piloting everything from Spitfires to heavy bombers.

Their inspirational contribution is a story that deserves to be remembered and celebrated.
