Voice

I do a lot of public speaking particularly around the subject of modern slavery; and over the years of presenting on this with the intention of positively influencing change and speaking out for injustice, I have learned the voice is a powerful tool that we have been given, yet it is often overlooked and undervalued. It is not just a tool for communication, but a way to influence others and transform lives.

There are many ways in which we can use our voice to positively impact others. One of the most obvious is through public speaking. Whether it’s a motivational speech or a persuasive presentation, the words we use and the way we use them can make all the difference in inspiring and empowering our listeners.

Another influential way to use our voice for good is through storytelling. Storytelling is a powerful way to connect with others, to share our experiences, and to help others understand the world around them and the cause you may be wanting to highlight. By telling our stories, we can inspire others to overcome obstacles, to pursue their dreams, and to create positive change in their own lives and the lives of those around them.

Beyond public speaking and storytelling, our voice can also be used effectively in more subtle ways to influence and transform lives. Something as simple as offering a kind word or a word of encouragement can make a profound impact on someone who is struggling. Our voice can also be used to mediate conflicts and to bring people together who might otherwise be divided. Our voice can create unity.

But using our voice for good is not just about what we say – it’s also about how we say it. Tone, inflection, and body language all play a role in how our words are perceived and can impact the way others feel about us and the message we are trying to convey.

So if you want to use your voice to positively influence others and transform lives, remember to use it with intention, purpose, and care. Whether you’re speaking in public or having a one-on-one conversation, every word you say can make a difference – so choose them wisely.
