1940s Weekend Saturday 12-Sunday 13 July

Wander through period-accurate shops, homes, and industrial workplaces, each telling its own story of life during wartime.

Re-enactors in authentic period costumes share fascinating tales and demonstrations, while an impressive display of vintage vehicles – from military transport to civilian automobiles – adds to the atmospheric and authentic experience.

Experience everything from ration books and identity cards to gas masks and air raid precautions. Learn about the innovative ways people adapted to wartime restrictions through the Dig For Victory campaign, which transformed gardens into vital food sources, and the resourceful Make Do and Mend initiative that inspired creative solutions to clothing shortages.
