Black Country Type, 'Ay It'

We're delighted to be welcoming brilliant local artist Tom Hicks to the store as we celebrate Black Country Day, at 1.30pm on Saturday July 12th.

Better known online as Black Country Type, Tom's ongoing project showcases his clever, droll and distinctive photographs of the region.

Tom will be here to talk to fans and sign copies of his latest collection, Ay It.

About the book: This book contains early photographs, previously unseen work and classic images by artist Tom Hicks. His ongoing project, Black Country Type, is a multi-disciplinary examination of the landscape and culture of this often-overlooked region of the UK.

Published to coincide with his solo exhibition at Birmingham City University, 'Ay It' contains photographs taken across the span of the Black Country Type project.

No ticket is required for this event, just turn up on the day.
