Wolverhampton LGBT+ celebrate funding with special event

The event will raise extra money for activities and services provided by Wolverhampton LGBT+

Wolverhampton LGBT+ is holding a fundraiser at The Royal London bar on Saturday, October 17.

The charity has just been awarded funding by the National Lottery Community Fund. The night will celebrate that, and raise extra money for activities and services the grant doesn’t cover. It’s also a reminder that Pride doesn’t have to be celebrated in June alone.

For just over a decade, WLGBT+ has supported the LGBT+ community in Wolverhampton and the Black Country. It offers subsidised counselling, social groups like crafts, coffee mornings and physical activity, and education for businesses and public bodies.

Drag duo The Saturnos will perform and there will be karaoke, alongside a raffle with prizes including tickets to Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. Prizes can only be won on the night, and raffle tickets are on sale in advance at The Royal London.

Natalie Houston, Operations Manager at WLGBT+, said: “We are really proud to have achieved our National Lottery funding. Putting on All Out Proud with The Royal London seemed like the best opportunity to raise some money, allow the community to have some fun, and let more people in the community learn about the work we do. It’ll be great to see as many of you as possible there on the night.”

Warinder Juss MP and the Mayor of Wolverhampton are also expected to speak at the event.
