People looking to develop their knowledge and skills to support children and young people are being invited to find out about two free distance learning qualifications available through Adult Education Wolverhampton.
They include the nationally recognised TQUK Level 2 Certificates in Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health, and in Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND).
They are ideal for anyone working in, or interested in working in, education, childcare, health and social care, or support roles. They also provide valuable knowledge for parents, carers and those looking to progress into specialist support careers.
The TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health covers a range of topics, including common mental health conditions in children and young people, factors that can affect mental wellbeing, and how to access appropriate help and support.
The TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Special Educational Needs and Disability looks at different types of needs, including physical, sensory and learning difficulties, the impact of SEND on children and young people, working effectively with families and professionals, and more.
Both courses are delivered through flexible distance learning with support from experienced tutors throughout. Assessment is completed through written assignments and portfolio work, with no exams required.
The courses are free for eligible adults living in the West Midlands with an annual gross salary of less than £36,126. People who are not eligible to join a course for free can still sign up at the standard rate of £299, or £99 for concessions. To find out more or enrol, visit www.aes.wolverhampton.gov.uk, call 01902 558180 or email enquiries@aes.wolverhampton.gov.uk.
Councillor Paula Brookfield, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Jobs, Skills and Opportunities, said: "Whether you are looking to begin a career in education and support services, enhance your current role, or gain a deeper understanding of children's mental health and additional needs, these flexible Level 2 qualifications offer an excellent opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and a recognised qualification."
