The family of a man who died when a car crashed into a Lidl store on Finchfield Hill have paid tribute to his “kindness, generosity and wonderful sense of humour”.
James Singh Jagpal, 39, from Wolverhampton, died after the collision at the Lidl store on Finchfield Hill on October 23.
In a statement his family described him as “a much-loved son and brother, devoted partner of over 20 years and loving father to two wonderful daughters.”
They added: “James was loved by so many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. James was the absolute centre of our world, and it is unimaginable how we will navigate life without him by our side.”
The family also thanked the staff, customers and emergency services who came to Mr Jagpal’s aid at the scene. They have asked people to respect the privacy and dignity of James and his family by not sharing or circulating distressing footage of the aftermath online. They continue to be supported by specially trained police officers.
West Midlands Police said the driver of the car, a woman in her 70s, has been released from hospital and will be spoken to in due course. Two other women were taken to hospital with injuries and have since been discharged.
Officers are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the collision. They are keen to speak to anyone who was driving around Finchfield Hill between 5pm and 6pm on Friday, and would especially like to see any dashcam footage that might show the car involved. They are also asking anyone who remembers seeing a blue Renault Zoe immediately before the collision to get in touch.
Anyone with information or images that could help the investigation can call 101 or use Live Chat on the force’s website, quoting log 4069 of 23 October. They can also email the team directly at SCIU@westmidlands.police.uk.
